The Inn at Sunset Hill is the ideal place to explore the White Mountains and the quaint North Country villages of Sugar Hill, Franconia and Littleton. Whilst in Sugar Hill, make sure you visit the newly refurbished Polly’s Pancake Parlor & stock up on New Hampshire goodies at Harman’s Cheese Shop.
With the mountains all around you, we are sure you will want to explore them a little more! Explore the Flume Gorge, the Basin and Echo Lake State Park. Ride the cable car up Cannon Mountain and hike the observatory trail. Take the Cog Railway or drive to the top of Mount Washington and experience the view from New England’s highest peak. Take a drive down the Kancamagus highway and visit the historic Bretton Woods Resort.
Wildlife: the area is full of wonderful creatures including moose, bears, turkeys, deer, chipmunks and many varieties of birds. And don’t forget the stunning Lupine festival in June.
As the name suggests, the White Mountains come alive in the winter. We are minutes away from Cannon Mountain for alpine skiing and snowboarding and a short drive from Bretton Woods and Loon Mountain. In Franconia village you can take advantage of the expanding cross country ski trails of Ski Hearth Farm; you can also snow shoe straight out the front door on our 60+ acres of nature conservancy land.
The Inn at Sunset Hill is located close to many famous mountain hikes, including the Franconia Ridge trail, The Haystacks, Lonesome Lake and Mount Lafayette. Take a gentle stroll round the quaint village of Sugar Hill, enjoy a round of golf, take a dip in the outdoor pool, go horseback riding, enjoy a scenic mountain drive, including the Mount Washington Auto Road, kayak at Echo Lake State Park, Streeter Pond or the Moore Reservoir, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking views. Throughout the summer, golf is available at many beautiful country Golf Courses, including our own 9 hole Sunset Hill Golf Course; New Hampshire’s oldest Golf Course and Club House. You can also enjoy the spectator sport of cheering the golfers on their way to the 9th hole!
In the Autumn, Sugar Hill is a great place to start your leaf peeping tour of the White Mountains, although many of our guests believe the best views are from our porch!
